Terms of Use

Last updated: 30 October 2026 · See also the Privacy & Cookies policy and the Community Rules.

These Terms apply to your use of Coindetails.com, which belongs to the same network of websites as dragos.xyz. By using the site or creating an account you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Coindetails.com.

These Terms, like the essential storage described in the Privacy & Cookies policy, apply automatically to everyone who visits or uses the site — there is nothing to tick and they cannot be switched off. They apply in full to every page, including the collecting sections (Metal Detecting, Gold, Silver & Platinum Coins, Banknotes, Stamps and E-Currency Coins).

1. Age

Coindetails.com accounts are for adults aged 18 and over. By registering, you confirm that you are 18 or over. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close it and delete its data.

2. What the site offers

Coindetails.com is an information website about metal detecting, gold, silver and platinum coins, banknotes, stamps and e-currency coins. Visitors can browse and search the public pages. Members can have an account, publish posts about their own finds, coins and banknotes, exchange private messages with the administrator (Inside Mailer), choose which emails they receive, and contact or report to the administrator. The stamp catalogues and the E-Currency Coins notes are written by the site operator. The administrator may add, rename, hide or remove collecting categories at any time; these Terms apply to every category, including new ones. Using the site is free.

Coindetails.com does not sell, buy, value, store or trade coins, metals, banknotes, stamps or digital currencies, and is not a party to any transaction between you and anyone else.

3. Accounts

  • Give accurate information and keep your password confidential. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
  • Your nickname must not impersonate another person or organisation, and must not be offensive.
  • One account per person. Do not share your account or create accounts to get around a restriction.
  • The administrator may make an account for you. It may have no email address, and it may be temporary: after its last day you cannot sign in. You still have to be 18 or over and follow these Terms. Change the password you were given after you first sign in.
  • When you register you accept these Terms by ticking a box. We keep a record of which version you accepted and when. If we change the Terms in a way members must accept, you will be asked to accept the new version when you next sign in or before you next publish a post; until then you can still sign out or ask us to close your account.
  • You can ask us to close your account at any time through the Privacy / GDPR request channel.

4. Rules of conduct

The Community Rules explain in plain words how to behave on the site and form part of these Terms. In particular, you must not use the site to send anything that is illegal, threatening, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, fraudulent, spam or malware, that infringes someone else's rights, or that reveals another person's private information. You must not try to break, overload, scrape or get around the site's security, limits or moderation.

5. Messages you send us

Inside Mailer messages, contact messages and reports are private between you and the administrator; they are not published. You are responsible for what you write. Do not send other people's personal information unless it is needed for a report or a request. How long these messages are kept is explained in the Privacy policy.

6. Member posts, pictures & locations

  • You are responsible for what you publish. Posts in Metal Detecting, Gold, Silver & Platinum Coins and Banknotes appear on the site straight away. The administrator can hide, edit or delete any post at any time, but does not check every post before it appears.
  • Your own pictures only. Coindetails.com shows items from private collections — yours and other members’. Publish only pictures that you took yourself of items in your own collection, or of a private collection whose owner has allowed it. Do not upload pictures copied from other websites, catalogues, auction listings, books or social media. The site operator follows the same rule for the stamps and e-currency pages.
  • Banknotes. Banknote pictures are reduced and marked SPECIMEN by the site, as central banks require for reproductions. You must not use the site to make, share or ask for copies of banknotes that could be passed off as real money.
  • Finds. You confirm that each find was made lawfully, with the landowner’s permission, and that you have met your legal duties — in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, possible Treasure must be reported to the coroner within 14 days under the Treasure Act 1996; recording other finds with the Portable Antiquities Scheme is encouraged. The site does not check this.
  • Locations are optional and informational only. When you post a find you choose whether to show no location, a written area, an approximate map position (shown rounded to about 1 km) or an exact one. A location or map on Coindetails.com only records where a find was made, for information and research. It is not an invitation, permission or encouragement for anyone to go to that place, to enter land, to search it or to remove anything from it. Entering land or detecting without the landowner’s permission, or on protected sites, may be a criminal offence. If you do not want a place to be known, publish without a map or with the area only.
  • Others’ unlawful acts. We do not accept responsibility for anything another person does unlawfully — for example trespass, illegal detecting or damage to land or monuments — using information published on the site by members or by anyone else. Anyone who acts on such information does so on their own responsibility.
  • Licence. You keep the rights in what you publish. You allow Coindetails.com to show it on the site (and in its backups) for as long as it stays published; you can edit or delete your posts at any time.

7. Not financial advice

Everything on Coindetails.com — including information about coins, precious metals, banknotes, stamps, e-currencies, prices, values, rarity and markets — is general information only. It is not financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and it is not a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything. Prices and values change and may be out of date or wrong. The value of investments, including precious metals and digital currencies, can fall as well as rise, and you may get back less than you put in. Do your own research and, where appropriate, take advice from a qualified and regulated professional before you make a financial decision.

E-Currency Coins. The E-Currency Coins pages contain the site operator’s personal experiences and opinions about individual digital currencies. They are not financial advice, not a financial promotion and not a recommendation. Coindetails.com does not encourage, invite, pressure or manipulate anyone to buy, sell, hold or use any cryptoasset; it gives no price targets or promises of returns, publishes no exchange or referral links, and receives no payment or benefit from any coin, project or exchange for what it writes. Cryptoassets are high-risk and largely unregulated in the UK, you are unlikely to be protected if something goes wrong, and you could lose all the money you put in.

8. Moderation & reporting

To report a problem, illegal content or abuse, use REPORT in the footer, the REPORT button on a page, or the Report content channel on the Contact page. For copyright, use the Copyright claim channel and include the link, a description of the protected work, confirmation that you are the rights holder or are authorised to act for them, and your contact details. The person you report is never told who reported them.

If you break these Terms or the Community Rules, we may warn you, stop you sending messages, suspend or close your account, with or without notice where the law allows. Serious illegal content is reported to the police or the relevant authority. You can appeal a decision within 14 days through Contact → Appeal a decision; we will look at it again and tell you the outcome.

9. Copyright & trademarks

  • © 2026 Coindetails.com. The site's design, logo, graphics (including the category pictures, drawn for the site or made in its own icon studio, and the coin badges), texts written by the operator and source code are protected by copyright. You may not copy, republish or reuse them without written permission, except for normal browsing and sharing links.
  • Names and images of coins, banknotes, stamps, currencies, mints and issuers mentioned on the site belong to their respective owners and are used for identification and information only. No affiliation or endorsement is implied.
  • MICHEL, Stanley Gibbons, Scott, Yvert et Tellier, Zumstein and Colnect are names of their respective publishers. Catalogue numbers and values are quoted one item at a time as references for stamps shown on the site; Coindetails.com does not reproduce any catalogue and is not connected with its publisher. Values shown are for reference only and are not offers or valuations.

10. Responsibility & liability

  • The site is provided “as is” and “as available”. We aim for accurate information but do not guarantee that it is complete, correct or up to date, or that the site will always be available.
  • Links to other websites lead to sites we do not control; we are not responsible for their content or offers.
  • To the extent permitted by law, the site operator is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from decisions you make based on information on the site (see section 7).
  • Posts, pictures, opinions and locations published by members are their own; we are not responsible for them, nor for unlawful acts that other people carry out using information found on the site (see section 6). We remove unlawful content once we become aware of it — use REPORT.
  • Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

11. Availability, changes & termination

We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the site. During maintenance, visitors may see a maintenance page for a while; accounts and messages are kept. We may update these Terms; if the changes are significant we will announce them on the site and members will be asked to accept the new version (section 3). For visitors, continued use after that means you accept the new Terms. You may stop using the site and ask us to close your account at any time.

12. Governing law

Coindetails.com belongs to the dragos.xyz network of websites and is operated by Dragos S from the United Kingdom. These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. This does not affect the mandatory consumer-protection rights of the country where you live, or your right to bring proceedings in its courts where the law allows.

Questions about these Terms can be sent through the Contact page or to .
