Community Rules
Last updated: 30 October 2026 · These rules are part of the Terms of Use.
Coindetails.com is for adults (18+) who share an interest in coins, banknotes, stamps, metal detecting and e-currencies. These rules apply to everything you publish or send through the site: your posts and pictures (Metal Detecting, Gold, Silver & Platinum Coins, Banknotes), your account details, Inside Mailer messages, contact messages and reports.
1. Be decent
- No insults, bullying or threats.
- No hate: nothing that attacks people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age.
- Do not keep messaging after you have been asked to stop.
2. Nothing illegal
- Do not send or link anything illegal, or anything that promotes or helps with crime, fraud, terrorism or violence.
- Never anything that sexualises a child. We act at once, close the account and report it to the police or the relevant authority.
- No sexually explicit material.
3. Posting finds, coins & banknotes
- Your own pictures only — photos you took of items in your own collection, or a private collection whose owner agreed. Never pictures copied from other websites, catalogues, auctions, books or social media.
- Describe honestly. Say what you know and what you do not. A copy, replica, restrike, fantasy piece or anything altered or repaired must be called that clearly — never present it as genuine.
- No counterfeits. Do not post, offer or ask for forged coins, banknotes or stamps, or anything made to pass as real money. Banknote pictures are shown reduced and marked SPECIMEN by the site.
- Lawful finds only. Detect only with the landowner’s permission, never on scheduled monuments or other protected sites, and report possible Treasure as the law requires. Do not post finds you know were taken unlawfully.
- Locations with care. A location is optional and for information only. Do not post the position of a protected site, of land you had no permission to search, or of a place where showing it could put it or its owner at risk. If in doubt, give the area only — or no location.
- “Wanted” and collection cards are not a shop. Coindetails.com does not buy, sell or hold anything for anyone. If you agree a deal with another member, it is between you and them, at your own risk. Never ask for deposits, advance payments or personal financial details through the site.
- No investment talk. Do not tell others to buy, sell or hold coins, metals or cryptoassets, promise returns, or post referral, exchange or “get rich” links.
4. Respect privacy
- Do not share other people's personal details — address, phone number, email, workplace, photos or messages — unless it is needed to report a problem to us.
- Your private messages with the administrator are private: do not publish them elsewhere in a way that exposes someone else's personal information.
5. No spam, scams or malware
- No spam, junk or chain messages.
- No phishing, fake login pages, scam offers, “free money” or crypto giveaways, investment schemes or links to malware.
- No advertising through the site without our permission. For advertising or partnerships, use the Ads & partnerships channel.
6. Be yourself
- Do not pretend to be another person, the administrator, a dealer, a mint or any organisation.
- One account per person. Do not create accounts to get around a restriction.
- An account the administrator made for you is for you only. Do not share it or its password, and change the password after you first sign in.
- Do not try to break, overload, scrape or get around the site's security or limits.
7. Reporting
If something is wrong — a problem on a page, a scam, abuse or illegal content — report it with REPORT in the footer, the REPORT button on a page, or the Report content channel on the Contact page. Choose a reason, add a few words if you like, and send. Reports about illegal content or a child at risk are handled first. The person you report is never told who reported them. If someone is in immediate danger, call the emergency services (999 in the UK, 112 in Europe).
8. What we do
Depending on how serious it is, we may hide, edit or delete a post, warn you, stop you posting or sending messages, suspend or close your account. Serious illegal content is reported to the police or the relevant authority. We do not have to warn you first where the law or safety requires us to act at once.
9. Appeals
If we removed or hid your post, or restricted or closed your account, and you think we got it wrong, you can appeal within 14 days of the decision through Contact → Appeal a decision. Tell us what happened, when, and why you think the decision was wrong. We will look at it again and tell you the outcome.
Questions about these rules can be sent through the Contact page.
